London Grammar have been making waves this year after the release of their song “Hey Now” this past winter. Their first LP, If You Wait, is a collection of eleven songs that are a breath of fresh air amidst the very varied (and cluttered) genre of electronic music. The album takes you on a journey, soaring between the catchy sounds found in “Flickers” or the heartfelt sincerity tied into “Stay Awake” and “Sights.”
The group’s vocalist, Hannah Reid, has a beautiful and powerful voice that paints a world of beautiful guitar and synth harmonies.
The trio is gaining momentum, their sound drawing comparison to bands such as The xx, AlunaGeorge and MS MR—enough to warrant a stateside visit to the Brighton Music Hall just last week. If they managed to fly in under your radar this time, consider If You Wait a consolation prize and prepare yourself for a do-over:
judging by this EP, we’ll be seeing more of London Grammar very soon. A lot more.
